Role Call Roundup: DNEG, Mighty Yeti, LightBox Expo and more

At the ready, recruits! And welcome to CartoonRecruit.com’s weekly Role Call Roundup. On the main page, I monitor and curate links to job posts (updated daily) from an ever-expanding list of animation studios. This blog is where I reflect on job posts from the past week and take a closer look at hiring trends across the animation industry.

This week’s roundup is going to be shorter than usual. Duty called me to attend LightBox Expo, but the brigade of new job opportunities marches ever onward. Read on for new opportunities at DNEG in Vancouver, remote jobs at Mighty Yeti, and a selection of new roles across the US, UK and Canada.

Feeling positive about production in Vancouver, British Columbia?

DNEG is a VFX production company and 3D animation studio which formed when Britain's Double Negative merged with India’s Prime Focus in 2014. Their recent projects include Venom: The Last Dance, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Nimona. Today DNEG has studios in London, Vancouver, Mumbai, Los Angeles, Chennai, Montreal, Mohali, Bangalore, Toronto and Sydney. DNEG’s VFX studio in Vancouver is hiring for three roles on their production team.

DNEG notes that while the Production Runner role is not ideal for an applicant interested in developing skills as a VFX artist, it does provide studio experience which could be useful for those who aspire to be a Production Assistant and eventually a VFX Producer. In my view, it is significantly helpful for studios to provide this level of career guidance to applicants upfront.

Seeking an elusive remote animation job?

Mighty Yeti is a creator-owned indie animation studio located in Half Moon Bay, California (just south of San Francisco). The studio is best known for making interactive picture books and is currently hiring freelancers to join a fully remote worldwide team for a gag-driven comedy series of shorts.
